Aims and Scope
Big.D aims to provide a global academic platform for cutting-edge research in ecological design and sustainability, focusing on the integration of design technology, environmental ecology, industrial ecology, and human-centered approaches. By publishing high-quality interdisciplinary research, the journal seeks to foster global collaboration and innovation, promoting the role of design in driving the harmonious development of the economy, environment, and society, contributing to the realization of global sustainability goals.
The journal welcomes original contributions in, but not limited to, the following areas:
- Ecological design and sustainable design engineering, including the systematic integration of ecological principles into engineering design processes, performance evaluation, technical optimization, and decision-support methods;
- Design technologies for environmental and industrial ecology, including tools, methods, and engineering solutions serving environmental systems and industrial ecosystems;
- Human-centered design grounded in engineering and technical approaches, supported by engineering analysis, experimental validation, and technical systems;
- Digital and computational design for sustainability, including the application of digital tools, computational models, and data-driven methods;
- Sustainable product, system, and service design with a full life-cycle perspective and clear engineering implementation pathways;
- Design strategies and technical frameworks supporting circular economy, low-carbon systems, and resource efficiency;
- Design innovation and its integrated application and synergistic optimization within environmental and industrial systems.
Big.D primarily publishes original research articles, review papers, and application-oriented case studies that demonstrate explicit technical pathways and solid engineering support.
