Big.D invites original research articles and interdisciplinary studies for its upcoming issue, with a particular focus on sustainable design, engineering innovation, and digital transformation.

Aligned with the journal’s aims and scope, this issue emphasizes research that systematically integrates ecological principles into design and engineering processes, addressing sustainability challenges through technical pathways, engineering analysis, and life-cycle-oriented frameworks. Contributions situated at the intersection of design technology, environmental and industrial ecology, human-centered approaches, and digital or computational methods are especially encouraged.

Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

  • User-centered, human-centered, and participatory design approaches for sustainable water–energy–agriculture systems;
  • Design thinking, service design, and eco-design methods supporting renewable energy–driven environmental and water treatment technologies;
  • Sustainable product and system design grounded in circular economy principles, low-carbon strategies, and ecological optimization;
  • Human-centered innovation in traditional industries, crafts, and Human-centered innovation in traditional industries, cultural heritage, and food systems;
  • Digital, computational, and data-driven design methods for analyzing sustainability, productivity, and resource efficiency;
  • Integrated design frameworks for microgrids, renewable energy systems, and community-based socio-technical applications, emphasizing design rationale and methodology;
  • Design-oriented research on digital transformation, policy frameworks, and urban or regional sustainability challenges.

Big.D welcomes original research articles, review papers, and interdisciplinary studies that demonstrate clear methodological rigor, relevance to design and engineering practice, and contributions to environmental stewardship and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
