Call for Papers: Advancing Intelligent Service Robotics for Human-Centered Innovation
The rapid development of artificial intelligence, robotics, sensing technologies, and human–robot interaction has accelerated the transformation of service robots from experimental systems into practical solutions that support human activities across diverse environments. Intelligent service robots are increasingly being applied in healthcare, elderly care, education, hospitality, domestic assistance, public services, and industrial scenarios, creating new opportunities for improving quality of life, enhancing productivity, and enabling more personalized services.
This issue invites original research articles, reviews, and interdisciplinary studies focusing on the design, development, application, and evaluation of intelligent service robotics and human-centered robotic systems. Contributions are encouraged to explore emerging robotic technologies, intelligent decision-making, adaptive interaction, and real-world deployment challenges.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
- Intelligent and autonomous service robotic systems, including AI, machine learning, multimodal perception, autonomous decision-making, and multi-robot systems.
- Human–robot interaction and human-centered robotic design, including social robotics, natural language interaction, emotional intelligence, adaptive behavior, and user-centered design.
- Robot perception, navigation, manipulation, and intelligent control for safe, adaptive, and autonomous operation in complex real-world environments.
- Healthcare, rehabilitation, elderly care, and assistive robotics for enhancing human well-being, independent living, and supporting aging societies.
- Service robots for education, domestic environments, hospitality, and public services, including robot-assisted learning and emerging service applications.
- Safety, trust, ethics, acceptance, and real-world implementation of service robots, addressing societal impacts, deployment challenges, and opportunities for human–robot collaboration.
BIG.D particularly welcome interdisciplinary research integrating robotics, artificial intelligence, engineering, cognitive science, healthcare, design, and social sciences. This issue aims to highlight how intelligent service robots can move beyond technological advancement toward creating more accessible, adaptive, safe, and human-centered solutions for future society. Studies addressing practical applications, user experience, system evaluation, and the societal impact of service robotics are highly encouraged.
