Editorial: Adaptive and Data-Driven Engineering for Human and Sustainable Systems
Abstract
This issue of Big.D explores adaptive, intelligent, and biologically inspired approaches to design-enabled engineering. Contributions examine culturally adaptive mental-health assessment, digital well-being, one-shot learning, reinforcement-learning interfaces, neuromorphic systems, biomimetic photovoltaics, personalized biomechanical design, collaborative innovation, and computational urban analysis. Together, these studies show how design increasingly integrates artificial intelligence, human behavior, biological principles, physical systems, fabrication, and sustainability. The issue demonstrates the value of interdisciplinary methods for developing responsive, technically grounded solutions to complex human and environmental challenges across domains.
